Q. Do I also need to obtain a permit through DEP?
A. The Monterey Conservation Commission is the local issuing authority for Mass DEP. So, in effect, if you obtain a permit through your town’s commission, you are obtaining a DEP permit. It is important to note that a copy of your application, together with all plans and supporting materials, must be mailed to DEP’s Western Region office when it is submitted to the commission. The commission sends copies of all permits it issues to DEP, where it is matched in the files with the application form.
