MINUTES Local Historic District

July 22, 2021

Convened:  5:23PM 

Ben Haley’s letter from the Historical Commission, spelled out the steps we need to take with our photos, and discussed how we fill out our application in an “Area Form” to the Commission.

Tim Lovett’s resignation with his regrets was reported to the Select Board and they proceeded to appoint of Stephanie Sloane and Kate Lascar Budak to our Committee. Stephanie and Kate are warmly welcomed, for we are aware of their talents in technical help and writing.

We talked about the length of time Ben Haley suggests before we can finish the work of our committee with a Village District designation.

Meanwhile, the Schoolhouse which forms one of the central pillars of our historical background for justifying the Monterey Village District is visibly deteriorating – discussion of the missing $10,000 which needs to be brought once again to the attention of the Select Board.Perhaps it would be enough to help with a coat of paint and stabilization of the structure. All building reports are permanent retention by the Town, we have requested them after discussion.We may look to the offices of Richie Neal or Smitty Pignatelli for their input on our school as a valuable historical resource.
