Minutes March, 2024   COA Monthly Board Meeting

Attendees: Lin Saberski, Maureen Banner, Kyle Pierce, Roberta Weiss, Kathryn Roberts, Kay Purcell

Lin called the meeting to order at 10:31. February 2024 minutes were approved.

Parkinson’s Support Group report: Once again an invitation to all COA members was extended to attend the first hour of the Parkinson’s Support Group. Virgil Stucker will now assist Richard with the group.  Roberta reached out to speech augmented voice enhancement therapist who will be on a future agenda for the PSG.

The March Parkinson’s Group was a clinical social worker from Gould Farm Brett Thatcher discussing Coping with Parkinson-Related Anxiety. The April Group will be about the Chase Family Movement Disorders Center in Connecticut.

March  COA  Events:

News of the World starring Tom Hanks is the planned monthly COA movie 3/13 at 7 pm in the library.  Lunch will be at Claire Teague Senior Center 3/22/24 this month rescheduled from February 22.  JoAnn will return to do her Wednesday afternoon library hours 3 to 5 after March 25.  Grief Support group will be held at the MCC on March 25 at 2pm and managed by MCC and Rachel Lively from Hospice.  Game Day will return March 27. Documentary Film on March 20 at the Monterey Library.

March 26   Visit to Norman Rockwell Museum and lunch in Stockbridge after visit. (Changed to April 8th but changed back to 3/26 because people had registered already and would miss 4/8 trip.)

April COA Events:

COA Meeting April 1   10:00 am Town Hall

April 4, 2024 Parkinson Support Group 2 pm Monterey Library

COA Monthly Movie 4/10/24 Wednesday 7 pm   Peanut Butter Falcon    Maureen working on Max Roach documentary by Julie Shapiro’s brother for future date.  Maybe young Frankenstein to attract younger group.

COA Monthly Documentary Movie April 17 2pm   (TBD) Monterey Library

CHP Mobile Unit Visit   Monterey Firehouse 3/17/24 from 1 to 3:00

Lunch April 19  noon   Agave Great Barrington. (Decided after NR trip switched back to March)

COA Game afternoon April 24   2 pm Monterey Community Center.

 

Old Business:

Kay updated on Triad meeting and plans to submit information for 413 Cares website.

Peter Poirier performance -  Lin will figure schedule.

 

Transportation update by Lin.  Cost has increased but increase in State funds covers most of the increase.

 

New Business:

Discussed Smith College visit in May or June.

Return of Annie Rye exercise class.  Dates to be determined.
