COA April 2023 Minutes

April COA Minutes 4/3/2023

The meeting was called to order at 10 AM by Lin Saberski.  Those attending the meeting were Kyle Pierce, Roberta Weiss, Kay Purcell, Maureen Banner, Richard Paragment, Nancy Kleban (remote) and Lin Saberski (remote), JoAnne Bell

Sandisfield Council on Aging Linda Riska and Nina Carr attended the meeting to discuss collaboration with Monterey and Sandisfield on a van and driver.

The minutes from March were approved.

Parkinson Support Group reported they were moving their April session to April 18th because of holidays.  Lin announced a generous donation by Richard to cover honorariums for the group going forward.

Clark visit reported a wonderful trip.

Iphone instruction will be covered in our Patriots Day lunch April 17th.  We will have a teenager available to answer questions and trouble shoot with seniors smart phones.

Exercise with Annie approved for April 19th class (recently moved to April 26th because documentary was April 19th.  Council will pay Annie to present her class to see if there is an interest so she can schedule future 4pm Wednesday afternoon classes.

Matter of Balance.  Two candidates from Monterey will contact Elder Services to find out about taking the training.

Cooking Club Kyle will follow up.

Transportation update.  Lin continues to research and move this forward.

May is Elder Month    Lin coordinating Elder lecture with local attorney..

Current April events are: April 12 Movie at Library 7 pm,  April 17th  bag lunch at Community Center noon, April 19th Documentary Film My Life as a Turkey 2 pm, April 18 Parkinson’s Support Group Library 2 pm, April 20th Wellness Check Community Center 2 pm

MA walk Lin organizing.

50th Anniversary celebration:   Awaiting confirmation from two interesting speaker possibilities.  Date to be determined.

June 21 is Super Senior lunch catered by marketplace.  Invitations will be hand written and families invited of citizens over 90.  Kay is confirming list.  Card being printed.

Reminder to do Conflict of Interest Training.

New Business.  Discussion of library COA weekly presence again for minimum one person.
