July 10, 2023
Attendees: Maureen Banner, Kay Purcell, Roberta Weiss, Pat Nourse, Kathryn Roberts, JoAnn Bell, Lin Saberski
1. Lin called meeting to order at 10:10 am. The June minutes were approved.
2. Parkinson’s Support Group - Suggestion to bring back Sarah Singer to present to the group. Richard would like to step back from leading the Caregiver Support Group - possible leaders include Collette, the social worker who presented at the July meeting, and Bob Cutick, Monterey resident and retired psychologist.
3. June Recaps - Annie Rye exercise classes continued. Barrington Brewery Lunch Thursday June 15 had a good turnout, as did the Super Senior Lunch June 21, though only one Super Senior attended. Will redefine and expand invitee group for next year. Peter Poirier Concert a big success once again.
4. July Events - Library movie July 12 Spiderman : Into the Spider-Verse. July 10 CHP Mobile Van at Monterey firehouse. Wellness Check July 20. Documentary Movie July 26 The Power of Song (about Pete Seeger). Pittsfield Suns July 27. Exercise with Annie July 12, 29 and 26. Matter of Balance starts July 18 in Sandisfield.
5. Transportation Recap: Lin applied for and got a State grant for additional hours for van. Weekdays until 6 pm and weekend hours from 10 - 4. Also added Sheffield and Egremont as destinations. Volunteer Driver saves very little money once hours added for coordinator to manage ride assignments and tracking, so that idea was dropped.
6. 50th Anniversary Celebration - Sue Epstein will give a talk “Laughing Matters” indoors at Community Center August 4, 2-4 pm with light refreshments. Lin will give introductory remarks including COA history. May include introduction to Neighbor Brigade idea.
7. August Plans - Raiders of the Lost Ark August 9. Lunch Out at Koi August 16. 20 Feet from Stardom August 23. Exercise with Annie on break.
8. Potential Future Plans - Icelandic Horses, possible event at Bidwell House, Library Hours.
9. Next Meeting August 7 at 10 am. Meeting adjourned at 11:45 am.
