FINANCE COMMITTEE MEETING

October 2, 2019

MINUTES

Meeting called to order at 6:04 PM at the Town Hall.  Jon and George reviewed the Baystate Municipal Accounting Group’s September 18, 2019 letter with Derek.  Based upon various insurance account over-expenditures, a discussion ensued regarding providing insurance over-expenditures in next year’s budget.  The idea of seeking competitive bids for the town’s insurance accounts was also discussed.  Further, it was agreed that I would email Justin to confirm that the estimated Free Cash will be available this week as part 1.  Part 2 will be certifying the Free Cash as soon as possible.

Minutes of the August 7th and September 11th meetings were reviewed and approved.

A Request for Transfer in the amount of $1000 from the Town Reserve Fund was reviewed and approved in order to cover the cost of a temporary employee to cover the functions of a full-time employee out for health reasons.

A new Transfer of Appropriations Request Form was reviewed and approved.  Emphasis was placed upon the need for department heads to personally complete this document when needed.

Meeting with the Select Board.  Discussed getting competitive insurance quotes and other financial issues.
