Finance Committee Minutes for November 12, 2020

Meeting started at 6:00 PM 

Members present  Rebecca Wolin, and Jon Sylbert

Members absent – Michele Miller

Non members present, Steve Weitz, Don Corborn, Mary McGown, Michael Jonson

The agenda was to discuss with the Selectboard the overall budget process

RW – would like the town to hold down costs due to covid and many out of work. 

RW and JS requested that the finance committee per state of MA law be responsible for the budget and keep all the budget files.

Melissa did not want to give up the control of the excel sheet (she constantly only sends it out password protected which makes it very hard to review and see if any changes were snuck in)

Both Don and Steve gave their work, that all changes would be sent to everyone even if a coma was changed.  This is not happening as we are only getting 1 update a week the day prior to our meeting.

RW stressed that salaries need to be kept under control

JS stated that salaries creep up and we need to have performance reviews of all the employees.  The selectboard requested we talk about raises later in the year.  As a place holder 2% is being used.

The selectboard agreed that the finance committee would present the budget at town hall. 

JS requested that the town hold a public budget hearing in March.  All agreed.
