1. The Commission will review the possibility of working with the Historical Society in the Historical Society’s application for ARPA funds to hire a consultant and further the interests of the historical community of Monterey in getting the services of a consultant to help design and prepare, with the Commission’s agreement, a statement of the need for our MACRIS District, MTR.A, to become a National Register of Historic Places candidate. This assumes it is still possible to apply, since the stated deadline for applications given on the once-posted Select Board’s invitation for applications was October 13 of this year.
2. Review the current collection of photographs for each of the buildings and monuments noted in the MACRIS District we propose. The Historical Society will take the jpg files to Staples to be printed once the photos are confirmed by MTR-A map numbers.
3. Assign writers to work on a letter (or set of letters) to those who approved of the District (the majority) as well as those who did not reply or those who disapprove because of taxation worries reminding those who disapprove of Monterey’s single-district Town taxation.
4. Ideas for an article in the Monterey News regarding the District and both the Historical Society and Historical Commission’s District proposal.
