Historic District Study Committee Meeting Minutes 3/31/21

MINUTES  MARCH 31, 2021

Our meeting over zoom proceeded to business at a rapid rate, given a major boost by an encouraging email from Ben Haley, Preservation Planner at the Massachusetts Historical Commission.  Members of the Historic Committee will be taking photos of the buildings in our proposed National Register of Historic Places application.  After review by the Historical Commission’s Parks liaisons, we may be well on our way toward eligibility for the application.

Discussion of required photographs for comparison to the district in the 1960s and 1990s ensued.  We need verification the district has not changed greatly from the time earlier file photos were taken.  We will be taking computer photos in color of the buildings and aspects of our proposed district. They will be used to verify our eligibility.

Several members commented on the excellence of a National Parks series of videos explaining the National Register of Historic Places, on YouTube.  They will prove useful as we contact homeowners in the proposed district.
