Ask the Engineer - Main Rd/Route 23 Culvert Replacement Design Conversation

The Town and Berkshire Regional Planning Commission hosted a final outreach event to hear  questions and comments on the Main Road/Route 23 culvert designs. On this call GZA, the engineers working on the plans, presented background to the designs and answered questions. Also part of the discussion was the decision on the part of the Monterey Select Board to hold back on applying for the construction grant. That decision was centered on possible changes by the State Legislature to the State grant program, Municipal Vulnerability Program (MVP), where the funding was coming from and that the culvert is still in usable condition. The point of the replacement is to prepare for anticipated future extreme weather event.
