Town Hall Update 7/31/2020

July 31, 2020

  • Last Friday, Governor Baker announced a new Travel Order that goes into effect on August 1st that will apply to many travelers entering or returning to Massachusetts. Travelers who do not meet the list of exemptions below must fill out the Massachusetts Travel Form, which is an online form, and either quarantine for 14 days or have a negative Covid test. More information, such as why certain states have been designated low-risk and what counts as passing through, can be found at mass.gov/matraveler

Exemption 1: Travelers from low risk areas: currently New England, NY, NJ and HI

Exemption 2: Travelers “passing through”

Exemption 3: People who routinely commute to or from MA for work or school.

Exemption 4: People traveling for medical care or military service and critical infrastructure workers.

  • The Town Hall office will continue be open by appointment only.  Members of the public are required to make an appointment with the department they need to see.  Everyone (public included) must wear a face covering when conducting business if unable to maintain a 6 foot distance, unless there is a medical reason not to.  All entering building must sanitize hands upon entering and exiting the building.  Hand sanitizer is stationed throughout the building.  Entry will be limited to 5 members of the public at a time.  The offices to be staffed full time are the Administrative Assistant and Police Department.  All other offices will be staffed part time.  In an effort to avoid face to face meetings, online or telephone meetings can be scheduled. By determination of the Attorney General all members of the public must attend meetings remotely by phone or computer.
  • Please be aware of a scam targeting locals asking for gift cards for a local cancer patient.  The request appears to have come from a local pastor.  It is a scam.  Always remember if something doesn’t feel right or if you are being asked for money (especially in the form of a gift card), call the source directly (and not via the number they have given you) and ask if the request is legit.

We thank you for your continued cooperation, understanding and patience during this difficult time. Up-to-date COVID-19 information will be posted on the Town’s website: www.montereyma.gov under the Board of Health page.

If you have any comments or suggestions, please feel free to respond to this email.

Sincerely,

Melissa Noe
