Cultural Council Minutes 8/10/2020
Monterey LCC meeting August 10, 2020

This meeting was conducted on Zoom beginning approximately 4:00 pm.
Four artists responded to our invitation to join us. They spoke first, each one explaining how he or she has been working since social distancing during the pandemic has changed everyone's plans.
In the final 20 minutes we discussed the need to create an Annual Report on our Local Cultural Council's activities from July 2019 through June 2020.
Janet Jensen will focus on the outreach she has done on behalf of our LCC this year.
Wendy Germain may provide a narrative describing any activities supported by the LCC during the first 4 months of the year and/or the transition of our LCC as new members came on board and older members retired.
Carol Clarin and Dorene Beller, will each contact two of the Grantees who have not completed the application process and have not received funds and write a brief description of each interaction.
Maggie Barkin will put it all together and submit it to the Town of Monterey by September 30th.
Janet Jensen raised the subject of changing to the Direct Grants process for supporting artists. She believes it will be easier for the artists to complete the application process and perhaps will provide them with more flexibility as circumstances evolve now that we are all restricted by the COVID-19 virus.
Most of the council members were in favor of learning more about the Direct Grant process.
Janet and Maggie will work with Lisa Simmons from the Massachusetts Cultural Council who will walk them through the new process.
Our next LCC meeting will be Monday, September 21, 2020 at 4 pm.
