Residential Shooting Range

Joseph Roxenski of 340 Beartown Mt Rd is seeking guidance on the procedures for preparing a bylaw and presenting a petition to the town to regulate firearm shooting.  TS stated that any bylaw article would not make the Nov 20 town meeting.  Zoning Enforcement Officer/Building Inspector sent comments regarding the current zoning.  TS stated that a previous discussion determined that this may be a sound ordinance.  RT remembered that there have been complaints in the past regarding target shooting.  TS states that there is a current bylaw regarding firearms.  LM advised that other neighbors and abutters be invited to the discussion. RT and BJ questioned if the concern is a shooting range or a property owner target shooting and/or siting a firearm for hunting.  TS suggested tabling the discussion until there is more clarification from Mr. Rozenski and the Zoning Enforcement Officer.
