Minutes of the Meeting 1/12/23

Meeting Date: Thursday, January 12, 2023 - 7:00pm

Meeting opened at 7:02pm

Planning Board members present remotely: Tom Sawyer, Chip Allen, Laura Mensi, Margy Abbott, Roger Tryon

Also Present Remotely: Seth Jenkins, Laurie McArthur (SB secretary)

Call to order at 7:02pm

AGENDA:

  1. Introduction to Select Board Assistant.

Laurie introduced herself and provided a brief overview of her role to assist the Planning Board with completing meeting minutes and light paperwork duties. 

  1. Overview of the Master Plan Survey Results to date.

Seth presented information pertaining to the Master Plan Survey Results and discussed those results.To date 222 residents have responded to the survey.Seth broke down each of the categories of the survey, highlighting areas of satisfaction and dissatisfaction amongst residents who had completed the survey.Seth said that next week he has a state forester coming out to look at the Monterey site for a temporary analysis.

  1. Discuss promotion strategies for the Master Plan Survey.

The Planning Board discussed several strategies to further promote the Master Plan Survey.  Seth inquired about utilizing paper versions of the survey to capture a larger audience response.  Tom recommended announcing on the website that there is a copy at the Library and said that he has been handing out cards to remind individuals to complete the Master Plan Survey.  Tom offered to mention the Survey at the Special Town Meeting to provide a brief update and hand out cards to promote the survey.  Seth asked about setting an end date to close off the survey suggesting March 1st, 2023, to which the Planning Board agreed.  Chip promoted the survey on the Google Group, and Margy was asked to write a new email for the Google Group.  Laura will message the Lake Garfield group.  Roger will provide an update to the Coffee Group regarding the Survey.  Margy offered to take some cards to the Food Pantry.  Tom will talk to Lauren about advertising in the Monterey News. 

  1. Pixley Road-Special Permit.

Laura sent the information out to the Planning Board.The permit in question is for 121 Pixley Rd and is a Special Permit request from the zoning board for the reconstruction of a preexisting covered porch.Tom explained the Special Permit request to the Planning Board, and they discussed the structure, non- conformity, and zoning requirements.Tom will draft a letter to the Zoning Board Association outlining how the addition of the deck has increased the non-conformity of the structure.Chip made a motion that they draft a letter to the ZBA outlining that the changes increase the non-conformity.

There were no Correspondence. 

  1. Approval of minutes

The Planning Board waited to approve the minutes from 3-24-22, 5-26-22, 7/28/22, 8/11/22, 8/25/22, 10/13/22, 10/20/22, 12/1/22 due to the absence of one board member.
