November 4, 2023 – Board of Assessors Meeting
Members Present: Scott Steibel, Terry Steibel, Gary Shaw, Don Clawson
Meeting called to order at 10:30 a.m.
The Board met to discuss the upcoming new operating system and server.
There will be a meeting with the Select Board and Finance Committee on November 14, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. Scott and Gary will attend on behalf of the Board of Assessors.
The Assessors will explain to the Boards the following:
- The office will switch from AssessPro 4.75 to AssessPro 5 on the Cloud. Maintained by Catalis.
- With the new system, we will be able to access the files in real time from the field.
- The DOR requires us to make this change as they will now be able to check our data in
real time.
- They require us to make this change as soon as possible.
- The new system is very intuitive. Board members will be easily trained.
- Data will be more secure from cyber-attacks. We will need to check that our insurance policy covers third parties.
- No money will be required during this fiscal year.
- Thereafter we will pay $11,880 annually. Currently we pay $6,900.
- The cost will remain the same for the next 10 years. License, training, set-up, maintenance, hosting, upgrade patches and a high level of security are included.
- This ties into our succession policy for when Don retires. The new Principal Assessor will get training, as well.
- In the future, if we are not able to find a new local Principal Assessor, an Assessment Company can tie into our system and data.
- All members of the Assessors’ Office will have their own code to enter the program. All data work will be recorded.
