MONTEREY BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING MINUTES
Date: January 11, 2021

Also Present: Jim Wilusz and Nancy Slattery
The meeting began at 2pm
- Jim Wilusz our Health Agent provided an update on all the many items that the Berkshire County towns have been working together on to address COVID concerns:
- Vaccinations for first responders began today. Over 900 first responders in the county have registered for their appointment. Once the Board of Health has more information on the availability of vaccines for the general public it will be posted on the website. In the meantime residents can always check https://www.mass.gov/info-details/massachusetts-covid-19-vaccine-information . Requirements from the Department of Public Health for planning future vaccination clinics was discussed. Nancy Slattery our Visiting Nurse joined the conversation at 2:23pm. If residents have any questions about anything COVID related the person’s primary care physician should be the first call.
- MAVEN numbers and accuracy on mass.gov: Nancy was asked about the accuracy of the number as we were previously told that we only had a total of 6 and MAVEN and mass.gov reports that we have 14. Nancy did confirm that Monterey has had a total of 14 cases since March but they have all been closed out. Monterey first responders should always reply to any call in full PPE as keeping an active list would be impossible.
- A survey went out about a month and a ½ a go asking about if fines have been given to individuals and the response was overwhelmingly “no”. Charging the Board of Health to hand out fines from is complex, the Board are not police officers and there is a level of training that would be needed. Complaints will never be dismissed by the Board but they are not equipped to issue fines.
- The next meeting will be February 1, 2020.
