Board of Health Meeting Minutes 8/12/19

MONTEREY BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING MINUTES

Date:  August 12, 2019

Present:  John Makuc, Julio Rodriguez, Roy Carwile and Peter Kolodziej

Also Present: Jim Wilusz

The meeting began at 4pm

1. The Board continued their discussions around Peter’s upcoming retirement appointing Jim Wilusz, Registered Sanitarian as his replacement.  The job description was reviewed and accepted and will be modified to include items it was previously missing.  A motion was made to appoint James Wilusz as Sanitary Inspector to begin on September 1 to a 2 year term.  The motion was seconded and unanimously approved.  For the months of September – December Peter will serve in a backup role and will be paid a salary of $595/month and Jim will be paid $1,098.25/month.  When Jim assumes the position without backup on January 1 the salary will increase to $1,693.25/month.
2. The Board discussed at great length their obligations concerning Cyanobacteria counts in Lake Garfield.  Currently there is no federal standard and all agreed that any guidance and/or recommendations on postings and/or closings should come from the Department of Public Health.  The Board will continue to discuss how this will be addressed in the future at their upcoming meetings.
3. The next meeting will be Monday, September 9, 2019 at 4pm.
