Board of Health Meeting Minutes 8/9/21

MONTEREY BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING MINUTES

Date:  August 9, 2021

Present:   John Makuc, Jim Wilusz, Julio Rodriguez, Kyle Pierce, Mary Makuc, Amy Hardt, Jill Sweet and Roy Carwile

Meeting began at 2:07pm

1. Jim Wilusz provided an overview of the public nurse program.  Jim explained that our contract with the VNA has been cancelled, but the state encourages reallocating those funds toward education and Board of Health related functions.
2. Amy Hardt and Jill Sweet the new Public Health Nurses introduced themselves and provided their educational and work background.  The collaborative is working on hiring a Medical Director.
3. Amy Hardt provided a COVID update and policy recommendation.  Monterey has only had one positive case since July 1^st.  The Board mad a motion to update the current advisory (not a mandate) recommending that regardless of vaccination status, masks are strongly encouraged in all public buildings.  The motion was seconded and unanimously approved.
4. Mary Makuc inquired if the Community Center could still host their 2 planned outdoor events.

A motion was made, seconded and unanimously approved to adjourn at 3:13pm.
