Parks Commission Meeting 6/17/21

In person, at the firehouse pavilion

Present: Steve Snyder, Gerry Clarin, Tom Mensi, Tracey Brennan

               2 Members of the Public

American Fence Company’s estimate for the Town Beach fence is $3000, but they cannot do the work until October.

Members of the Commission can answer emails we receive and cc the rest of the committee to keep one another aware of what has been done. Issues involving money from the  Parks budget require a meeting before being dealt with.

A scheduling conflict arose at the baseball field and police were called. The conflict has been resolved. Steve clarified that in order to enforce any Parks Commission policies, we will call the police if necessary.

Revamping the ball field for the season, including re-lining, is part of Gary O’Brien’s contract, and he has done it.

Mark Makuc will order upright buoys for the swimming/boat launch area.

Karen Slade, who lives next to Bidwell Park, attended the meeting and reported that fallen trees in the park, including one over the waterfall, are safety hazards for visitors to the park. She has left many messages for the Parks Commission regarding this. Gerry will ask Shawn Tryon to look at the situation and to consult with the Tree Warden.  Karen also expressed an interest in joining the Commission. Members welcomed her interest and told her the steps to take in order to be appointed temporarily.
