Minutes of the meeting of 12/10/19

Meeting Opened at: 5:45pm

Select Board Members Present: Kenneth Basler, Chairperson, Donald Coburn and Steven Weisz

Also in attendance: Jon Sylbert, Mark Makuc

Jon explained that the reason a meeting was requested was so that the Board to recommend a Selectperson and a Finance Committee representative to the Moderator for appointment to a regional school district planning committee to explore regionalization between Southern Berkshire Regional School District and Berkshire Hills Regional School District.

A motion was made to form a regional school district planning committee as per MGL Chapter 71 Section 14.  The motion was seconded and unanimously approved.

A motion was made to recommend that the Moderator appoint Don Coburn and Jon Sylbert to serve on the regional school district planning committee.  The motion was seconded and unanimously appointed.

Moderator, Mark Makuc appointed Don Coburn and Jon Sylbert to the regional school district planning committee.

Discussion ensued about whether an alternate should be appointed in case Don or Jon is unable to make a meeting.  A motion was made to recommend the appointment of Steve Weisz as an alternate pending approval from the committee.  The motion was seconded and unanimously approved.  The Moderator appointed Steve Weisz as an alternate pending approval.

Jon agreed to post regular updates on the committee’s progress in the Monterey News.

A motion was made and unanimously approved to adjourn the meeting at: 6pm
