Minutes of the meeting of 3/5/19

Meeting Opened at: 3pm

Select Board Members Present: Carol Edelman, Chairperson, Kenneth Basler

Also in attendance: BJ Johnson, Peter Chait

In attendance via conference call: Donald Coburn, Peter Larkin, Mike Baldino

The Board had a conference call with the MTC/Massachusetts Broadband Institute to discuss the following:

• The Board provided the results of the 2018 RFP that was issued.
• Peter Larkin summarized our current position: Fiber Connect can take Monterey to 70% coverage leaving Monterey to cover the remaining 30%, MBI’s mandate is to help towns reach 96% coverage, and we have $1. 1million allocated to assist us in meeting that 96%.
• Larkin discussed the new flexible grant option.
• MBI is seeking Monterey’s response to the flexible grant program before an action plan can be addressed.
• Monterey will send the following to MBI so that we may move on to the next step: copies of the RFP issued and the response received, supplemental and clarifying information/reports to the response received, and any other precise information on where the current buildout stands.  Once MBI receives this an action plan can be generated fairly quickly. 

A motion was made and unanimously approved to adjourn the meeting at: 3:40pm
