Minutes of the meeting of 6/12/19

Meeting Opened at: 11am

Select Board Members Present: Kenneth Basler, Chairperson, Donald Coburn and Steven Weisz

Also in attendance: Ben Krupka, John Krazinski, Peter Chait, Larry Klein, Steve Moore

Miscellaneous Items Reviewed:

1. The goal of today’s meeting is to figure out a way forward for broadband after Egremont’s decision that they do not want to work with Monterey moving forward with MBI as they are concerned doing this will slow their progress down.
2. Don proposed to allow him to act as the initial negotiator with a representative(s) from MBI to discuss how to obtain the monies allocated for Monterey.  Discussion ensued.  A motion was made to give Don 2 weeks to begin negotiations with MBI.  The motion was seconded and unanimously approved.
3. Points to be negotiated with MBI as well as Fiber Connect were discussed.
4. Members of the Broadband Committee inquired if their appointments we be extended for another year as they expire on June 30.  Kenn proposed that he meet with Fiber Connect to write up a definitive understanding of most of what Monterey will be looking for, he suggested that members of the Broadband Committee also participate in these conversations.  A motion was made to have Kenn began negotiations with Fiber Connect with one member of the Broadband Committee.  The motion was seconded and unanimously approved.

A motion was made and unanimously approved to adjourn the meeting at: 12:15pm
